Advice and answers from the BitPay Team

If you mistakenly sent bitcoin to a BitPay merchant's address after the invoice payment window has expired, we will be happy to assist with returning your funds to you.

Email support@bitpay.com with any of the following information (this will help us locate your payment):

  • Bitcoin Transaction ID: usually located in your bitcoin wallet transaction history. It is a set of 64 hexadecimal characters (0-9 & a-f). For instance:9f94d278a92b10e9abac033ff5f327a852c803da63bd2b9440bf6440e8bc1428
  • Receiving Bitcoin Address: a set of around 34 mixed case (upper/lower) alphanumeric characters (0-9, a-z, A-Z) which starts with a 1 or a 3. For instance:19hw6hdT1rv16abN89kJB4q6m83usjJDdu
  • Sending Bitcoin Address & Date/Time/Amount

If your payment was made to one of our merchants' bitcoin addresses, we should be able to locate it with this information. Then we'll submit your payment return request for processing.
